Hellinikon
Hellinikon
“Hellinikon” is the former airport of Athens.
The airport constructed in 1938 and had two terminals.
The West Terminal for Olympic Airways and the East Terminal for International carriers.
The East Terminal building designed between 1960 and 1969 by Finnish architect Eero Saarinen.
The West Terminal burned almost entirely around 2006 and only the skeleton of the building reminds what it used to be there. The airport closed in March 2001.
Time passes. Memories fade. Feelings change. People leave. But heart never forgets.
